Do You take Supplements?
Despite what carbohydrates that I eat in my diet I do take supplements. I take Prenatal Vitamins, but I am not pregnant or trying to get pregnant. My mom stated that other vitamins does not suit her. She stated that prenatal vitamins gave her the energy and made her feel good throughout her busy day. So she sent me a large store brand prenatal vitamin. And I tell you, my mom is right I feel more energized then other vitamins. Prenatal supplements are a complete vitamin for women who are pregnant or who want to get pregnant. I am not trying to have another child. It is great because it has the minerals a woman needs to be healthy and active. But with all medicines talk to your doctor.
I also take garlic pills. My brother use to have to eat raw garlic when we were growing up. It is an old southern remedy that my mom again lives by for helping to lower blood pressure. Well, I am not going to eat raw garlic and I do not have high blood pressure, but I do take the pill form of garlic for I am getting up in age and I do not want to even think of me having to cope with another disorder.
Chromium Picolinate Plus is suppose to boost your metabolism and to help keep your blood level normal in type 2 Diabetics. I still take these pills even though I am a Type 1 Diabetic. These supplements has not hurt me. And my level do stay at a consent normal range level. Again chat with your PCP or endocrinologist.
And last I take Calcium. Turning 40 a few years ago changed a lot on me. It is much harder for me to lose weight. more than it did when I was in my 30's. My endocrinologist told me after a blood test my calcium level was low. Low I thought I eat a lot of green leafy vegetables and consume lots of dairy, so how can this be, I see myself as a strong person, and after what she told me made me feel very old. But I am not going to sulk. I called my mom and she sent me a large bottle of calcium. In California I have not been able to find large supplements like vitamins or calcium. So I am glad I have mom to help me. Beside taking supplements I also combine flax seeds, chia seeds, unsweetened coconut flakes, nuts, berries and coco powder in other foods I eat to help me get my omega3, and coco has a lot of antioxidants. Plus with all the fiber I consume in my protein bars I stay regular, I just need to drink more water.
